Our Story
Designed to protect little peepers — and celebrate childhood.
Who Is Frankie Ray?
With a baby on the way and SunSmart awareness on the rise, founder Bec Bennett saw a clear gap — kids needed better eye protection.
In 2008, just months before her first daughter was born, Frankie Ray was launched.
“Frankie”, originally chosen as Bec’s baby name, became the brand — and “Ray” was added to bring a little sunshine.
Now 18 years young, Frankie Ray has grown into a trusted Australian brand — known for its playful style, thoughtful design, and serious approach to eye protection.
Because helping kids enjoy the outdoors safely should always come with a smile.
Kids’ eyes deserve special care
Eye damage caused by UV exposure is cumulative and can begin at a very young age. Protecting little eyes early isn’t just important — it’s essential.
At Frankie Ray, we take eye protection seriously, while making sure kids actually want to wear their sunglasses.
Comfortable, durable, and designed for real life — never forced.
Designed With Purpose
Every pair of Frankie Ray sunglasses is designed to balance safety, comfort and style.
All styles provide 100% UV protection (UV400) and feature impact-resistant Category 3 lenses, compliant with global eye protection standards (AS/NZS 1067.1:2016).
From baby-friendly flexible frames to bold styles for confident kids, each design is made for movement, play, and everyday adventures.
Because protection only works if kids actually wear them.
Growing up together
Frankie Ray has always been a family affair.
Today, Bec’s teenage daughters are part of the journey — helping shape design and marketing — while her husband keeps a close eye on operations.
Together, they continue to grow the brand with the same mission:
To encourage little people to get outdoors, enjoy the sunshine, and stay protected — always with a smile.
Behind the Lens
Founder and head designer Bec Bennett brings over 25 years of experience in eyewear and junior sports marketing.
During her time as Marketing Manager for Little Athletics around the Sydney Olympics, Bec saw firsthand the impact of sun exposure — with young athletes experiencing migraines and nausea on the track.
Later, working with Oakley and the Cancer Council, she recognised the growing need for dedicated kids’ eye protection.
That insight became the foundation of Frankie Ray — creating eyewear that is functional, affordable, and genuinely made for kids.
Not the new kids on the block
Nearly two decades on, Frankie Ray remains one of Australia’s leading boutique kids’ eyewear brands.
Now stocked in over 150 retailers — including Baby Bunting, Swimwear Galore, and leading independent boutiques — Frankie Ray continues to surprise and delight families across Australia and beyond.
As the brand grows, the focus remains the same:
Protect young eyes. Celebrate individuality. Create sunglasses kids love to wear.
